Since 1990, the Univeristy of Queensland, in partnership with Alumni Friends of The University of Queensland and UQ Sport, has proudly been offering sporting scholarships and athlete support programs to assist exceptional athletes balance their studies with the demands of elite-level sport. UQ Sports Achievement Scholarship
Established in 2008, UQ Sports Achievement Scholarships are awarded to new and current undergraduate students of the Unversity of Queensland who display elite ability and excel in their chosen sport. These year-long scholarships are funded by donors and by The University of Queensland to encourage and support scholarship holders to reach their full potential both in their studies and in their sport. The UQ Sporting Scholarship selection process is highly competitive and not all applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will be awarded a scholarship.
UQBC currently co-funds two scholarships. The scholarships co-funded by UQBC are targetted at athletes that are current members of UQBC, who are still developing, show outstanding potential and most importantly, could benefit greatly from the funds provided to support their rowing pursuits.

Clem Jones Sporting Scholarship

Valued at $18,000 over 3 years, subject to annual review. Open to domestic full-time students who have at least 3 years remaining in their program. The Scholarship will be awarded to applicants who, in the opinion of the Committee, show the greatest merit as demonstrated by evidence of financial need, academic and UQ.
Sport Ambassador Program

UQ Sport services valued at $1500 for one year. Open to all UQ domestic and international Students who have represented at an open, national or international level.
Regardless of your Scholarship application result, you may be eligible to join the UQ Elite Athlete Program, should you be accepted to study at UQ in 2020.
Elite Athlete Friendly University
The University of Queensland is endorsed by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) as an Elite Athlete Friendly University. The UQ Elite Athlete program operates out of the UQ Sport Academy and provides support to elite student athletes as they pursue a dual career in sports and study.
To be eligible for Elite Athlete status students must be representing Australia or a State or Territory of Australia in a ASC supported and recognised sport which rowing is.
Should you require support to manage your elite level sporting commitments with your study just requires contact with the UQ Sport Academy. As an elite athlete you are eligible for a UQ Sport High Performance Pass, which provides a heavily discounted Gold Membership and discounted strength and conditioning services at the UQ Sport Academy.
You will also have access to free Elite Athlete Workshops throughout the semester.
UQ Sport Competition Subsidy
The UQ Sport Competition Subsidy provides funding to assist talented student athletes at UQ to assist with out-of-pocket competition costs to compete at eligible national and international sporting events.
University of Queensland Blues Awards
To be awarded a University Blue is held in high esteem and is one of the highest accolades a university athlete can receive. The Blues Awards have a long tradition at UQ Sport and The University of Queensland. Since 1912, Blues and Half Blues awards have been presented to UQ students in recognition of outstanding sporting achievements, and for enhancing the reputation of university sport. Students must be members of UQBC to receive a rowing Blue or Half Blue.
