The University of Queensland Boat Club has a strong history dating back to 1911 when a men’s rowing club first began at the University.
Since these proud beginnings the club has established itself as one of the finest and most successful boat clubs in Australia.
Rowing Australia has recognised the investment UQ SPORT and UQBC have made in employing top-level coaches, including a Head Coach in 2003, the upgrading of facilities and equipment, and the results club rowers have consequently achieved at a state, national and international level. Consequently in 2005, Rowing Australia endorsed UQBC as one of the country’s four elite rowing clubs, and a vital link in the dream of success at the upcoming Olympic Games in Beijing.
UQBC boasts Olympians, Youth Olympics and World Championship representatives as well as National and State champions. Not surprisingly, UQBC’s program is recognised as one of Australia’s best.
UQBC also provides a wide variety of programs including masters rowing, learn to row, school, college rowing and corporate programs all of which are delivered by coaches of the highest standard with support from UQ SPORT.
